Innovations

Over many years Nexus Insight has helped many ideas from 'fag packet' to production. Not just with material selection, with all aspects of product development. Here are the latest;

Hammer WedgeHammer Wedge

A well known hammer and mallet manufacturer asked us to investigate the possibilities of using a polymer to replace metal for their wedges. We suggested Radici's Radilon S URV600L due to the material is already used for plastic nails. Nexus Insight also organised working prototypes for a comprehensive test programme. The latest 'pull off' results were 150PSI for metal and 200PSI for polymer.

HangersHangers

Nexus Insight was integral with success of the polymer hangers. Each individual hanger had to hold 190kgs, the total hanger had to hold 450kgs. The product was failing to take the aforementioned loads until we reviewed and changed the design.

Bath Project

Nexus was approached by a bath design company to help re-engineer bath and shower seats. Currently bath and shower seats are made from combinations of materials, however, mainly involving coated metal. We are working on designs and materials to replace all the metal products. Due to the IP sensitively no images are available.

News about Plasclamp

name

Everybody knows a metal "Jubilee Clip". However, here is the polymer version operating on a Mercedes engine for over two years. Nexus Insight helped with design and material selection, Radici's Radilon D HSW 105M, a nylon 6.10 with very high mositure and chemical resistance with a continous working temperature of 130 degree C. The clamp design became finite, the smallest detail affected performance. Nexus Insight supported this project financially, technically and with material selection.

News about Cable Separator Products

name

A recent rail client challenged Nexus Insight to help solve a complex cabling problem. Their solutions were equally as complicated and expensive. Nexus Insight came up with a cost effective and practical solution to their problem.

One and a half kilometres worth of these products have now been installed on the rail network.

One of the engineers involved said of the solution "It's not what you know it's who you know"
